About Me

My photo
I am a below knee amputee. More importantly, I am also Mommy to two boys, a very active 10 year old (Robby) and an mischievous toddler (Timmy). I have learned that being a parent with a disability can create some unusual and sometimes humorous situations. This blogger is available for hire! Cousin Crew Fun

The Cousin Crew has been reunited. Although their reunion will be relatively short, we leave on Monday, the kids are making the most of their opportunity. I love the laughter and chaos that overwhelms my Mom's house when they are together.

Timmy has been on Cloud 9 since our arrival. Between spending time with my Mom snuggling and watching television and playing with his cousins, I'm sure he will never want to leave.  Thankfully with all adults completely immunized and the vaccine for teens on the horizon, we will be able to visit more regularly.

Although we are continuing to social distance, yesterday we all masked up and headed to Dave and Buster's to have some arcade fun. Although Timmy went as a baby, this was his first true arcade experience. Being surrounded by the noises and the lights of the games, combined with being in the fray with the Cousin Crew, he was grinning from ear-to-ear.

After two hours at the arcade we returned to my Mom's in time for Robby to log into his cooking class. While the Crew stayed downstairs, Robby whipped up a delicious meal of spaghetti with homemade made meatballs and sauce, along with bruschetta.  (I really love his cooking class!)

I'm looking forward to a wonderful weekend of fun with all of these kids!

Heading to PA

The boys and I are super excited this morning. After months apart, today we are heading up to my Mom's for Easter vacation. The Cousin Crew will finally be reunited!

Even though we are excited to see each other and all of the adults are now fully vaccinated, I plan on continuing to social distance. The kids and I will still have fun but, much like over the summer, our activities will be carefully curated for pandemic safety. Rest assured, I have a few things up my sleeve!

Whether we are on adventures or just staying home, the kiddos will just be happy to be together. I predict some sleepless nights filled with laughter and late night requests for snack runs. Have no doubts, I am looking forward to the chaos.

Pennsylvania, here we come!

Bad Guy

After adjusting to Scott's return-to-the-building schedule, we are back to him being home all the time. His school is on Spring Break, which means that he is off until the middle of next week. Timmy is ecstatic to have his Daddy home, although I'm finding it difficult and frustrating to convince him that he still needs to focus on his classwork.

The concept of his Daddy being on vacation and him still being in school is difficult to grasp. I'm close to throwing in the towel for the next few days. I'm just tired of being the bad guy. I know that we'll be able to catch up when our "normal" schedule returns, so I may declare an unofficial Spring Break holiday for everybody.

Homeward Bound

The weather this weekend was crummy, so we stayed inside and just relaxed. The boys were content to play games and watch movies so I didn't feel compelled to entertain them. I was happy for the down time to get some work done. I'm hoping to go visit my Mom this week, so it was nice to knock a lot off of my to-do list before the trip.

I haven't been able to visit at my Mom's house since October. When the Covid numbers began to surge in the Fall, we doubled our efforts to stay safe by locking down. It was so hard to be away from her for so long, especially when it meant missing our Thanksgiving and holiday traditions. Needless to say, I'm really looking forward to the visit.

Robby has been chomping at the bit to visit with his cousins. I know that he has missed them and is eager to be reunited. The Cousin Crew has been planning, but they don't realize that I have some ideas up my sleeve as well. (With all adults immunized, it is comforting to know that we can be reunited without the fear of somebody dying!)

We are now counting down the days until our Nana Adventure begins!
