About Me

My photo
I am a below knee amputee. More importantly, I am also Mommy to two boys, a very active 10 year old (Robby) and an mischievous toddler (Timmy). I have learned that being a parent with a disability can create some unusual and sometimes humorous situations. This blogger is available for hire! Let's talk and learn how a blog can expand your business.

Nice But Quick Long Weekend

To say that I enjoyed having both of my kids under the same roof would be a colossal understatement. My heart was happy to have Robby home for the long weekend. It was too short and filled with too many activities, but I thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Labor Day has never been among my favorite holidays, but it may become one if it means that the house will be full.

Because Robby was coming home we opted to refrain from traveling or selling FlexyFriends. Instead we just stayed home, threw junk into the dumpster and watched movies. On Sunday Scott and I decided to surprise the boys with a trip to one of their favorite restaurants. It wasn't a grand getaway, but the food was good and the company was excellent.

Despite not doing anything spectacular, it was wonderful having Robby home. I was able to help him review and organize his course syllabi for the semester. I had forgotten how overwhelming it feels having so much information shared in such a short amount of time. I also don't remember the syllabi being in excess of 10 pages each, but perhaps time has softened those memories. In any case, after several hours we managed to organize his calendar to reflect all due dates for the semester.

Yesterday Scott returned Robby to his dorm while Timmy and I grilled steaks over the fire pit (one of his favorite activities).  Today everybody begins week #2 of the school year. Everybody except Scott of course, who is quick to remind me that he is no longer bound to the school schedule.

:)
