About Me

My photo
I am a below knee amputee. More importantly, I am also Mommy to two boys, a very active 10 year old (Robby) and an mischievous toddler (Timmy). I have learned that being a parent with a disability can create some unusual and sometimes humorous situations. This blogger is available for hire! Dance Party

I am so thankful that the weekend is almost here. I am looking forward to a few days of quiet and rest. Of course, I don't think the kids are going to be keen on quietly resting. I might convince Robby that calm activities would be fun, but Timmy won't buy it. My little guy has been in constant motion.

The past few days Timmy has been hosting several dance parties in our kitchen. A few times a day he cranks up the Alexa, dons his skates and invites me to dance with him. Never one to turn down a dance from a handsome young man, we rock out to The Floor is Lava and Musical Chairs.

He has a great time skating around with me. By the time we are finished, we are both drenched in sweat and red faced. I wouldn't mind once or twice a day, but we lately we have been having upwards of six dance parties a day. The weather has been crummy and I know that it is a great outlet for him. That being said, I don't know where he gets his energy!

I'm hoping that the weather breaks so my little dancer can play outside this weekend. I am looking forward to laying in hammock while he digs and explores in the yard. Fingers crossed the rain stays away and we don't have to wear our dancing shoes quite so often.

Fighting

Yesterday was extraordinarily busy. I felt like I was hopping from the moment I woke up. Unfortunately, we were so busy that we were not able to play outside or make it to the farm to pick up our CSA share. Hopefully things will calm down today and we will be able to relax a tad.

I wouldn't have been so busy if I was just handling work and schoolwork. Instead, I had to square away issues with companies because promises were not kept. I'm so tired of fighting with everybody to meet the bare minimum of their obligations. Always having to advocate is exhausting!

Alas, today is another day and I'm hoping it will be a good one. I'm looking forward to playing outside and decompressing in the fresh air. I think we all need to unplug for awhile.

Productive

It always amazes me how just a short diversion from my schedule can cause me to feel unbalanced for days. I never thought I would be so dependent upon routine. Yet here I am, living the dream.

I spent most of Sunday catching up on work and housework. By the time I went to bed I was exhausted. Unfortunately my fatigue did not translate into a solid sleep. I was restless all night, leaving me feeling even more run down when I woke up yesterday.

Thanks to a pot of coffee I was able to perk up and attack the day. I was surprisingly productive, especially considering how the morning started. The boys are caught up with their schoolwork and I am actually ahead of schedule for my work projects.

Today the weather is going to be beautiful and I'm hoping to escape to the park for a few hours to play. I think we could all use a little fresh air.  After working so hard for the past few days we deserve to enjoy recess.

Farm, Cookies and Bowling

Robby had a fantastic time at his classes on Friday. When I picked him up he was grinning from ear to ear. He was delighted to be reunited with his friends and the "squad" has already begun to scheme and strategize.

While Robby was busy in school Timmy and I discovered a wonderful little farm to explore. I have no idea how this farm park has remained undetected until now! This public farm had animals, a full playground and even a carousel to ride. It was a perfect way to spend a few hours while Robby was in class. I did not realize how much I have missed our little outings until we were in the midst of one.

Saturday morning the boys and I woke up and took our annual cookies to the firehouse. After we left we continued heading north towards Pennsylvania. My sister had a big birthday over the weekend and we wanted to celebrate with her.

Robby and Timmy were both excited that their cousins were permitted to leave their dad's early so they could spend the Saturday night and all day on Sunday with their mom. I took advantage of the reunion and booked a lane for rock 'n bowl.

We had so much fun dancing to the live band, bowling and just being silly. On Sunday we woke up early and headed back home. I spent the majority of the day working and catching up on some projects. A new week begins today, and I am determined that it will be good.
