About Me

I am a below knee amputee. More importantly, I am also Mommy to two boys, a very active 10 year old (Robby) and an mischievous toddler (Timmy). I have learned that being a parent with a disability can create some unusual and sometimes humorous situations. This blogger is available for hire! Happy Anniversary

I'm still not feeling fantastic, but I am feeling better than yesterday. For now, I'm going to take that as a victory. Hopefully whatever has been ailing me will continue to wane until I magically wake up one morning and feeling amazing. Until then, I'll celebrate the small improvements.

Today Scott and I are celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary. My goodness, has that much time really passed? Like so many things, it feels like a lifetime ago. Sigh. I'm getting old.

We don't have anything grand planned, but I'm sure we will enjoy a nice lunch or dinner at some point. One of the benefits of being married for so long lies with our mutual disinterest in making an anniversary fuss. We tend to acknowledge our anniversary and move on with our day.

Even though we aren't celebrating, I do want to take the opportunity to mark the event. 18 years is a long time, and we are still going strong.

Happy Anniversary Scott!

Feeling Icky

The past few days I have not been feeling fantastic. I'm tired and feeling out-of-sorts all the time. Last night, out of concerns that I might have Covid, I took another test. Again, it was negative. (I remain the only one in my family to remain uninfected.) At this point I don't know if I am sick or simply worn out.

I hate feeling like this!

Winding Down

Yesterday Scott and I continued to chip away at our mountain of laundry, dwindling it down to a small hill. Hopefully today we will finish the laundry and stow the suitcases until the next adventure. It is hard to believe that Scott returns to work on Monday. My goodness his summer vacation flew by so quickly!

Of course, the days really move quickly when you are on vacation. Unlike other years, Scott spent the majority of this summer vacation traveling. He has spent more days in hotels than he did at home. Talk about an amazing summer!

There is no doubt that the trip to Europe changed both Scott and Robby. Robby came home more mature, with a deeper perspective for cultures and history. I love how he casually references his experiences like a seasoned traveler.

While Robby matured, Scott was transformed by the experience. This was his first tour as well as his first trip to Europe. Experiencing other cultures has awakened a sense of travel lust that I have never seen from him. Typically content at home, Scott is now searching travel sites and scouring the internet for different tour companies.

Let's hope that his travel motivation lasts!

Staying Cool

After a long afternoon of traveling (after a short morning of playing), we arrived home safely and relatively unscathed on Friday evening. Everybody was travel weary and hot by the time we pulled into our driveway. Vacations are wonderful, but coming home is always tiring!

I spent the weekend working and trying to chip my way through a mountain of laundry. Why did we pack so many clothes for a beach vacation? Next year I am going to limit everybody's wardrobe to two outfits. Not only will it make packing easier, but it will ensure that I'm not met with a week's worth of laundry when we return.

When I wasn't working, I was hiding from the heat and trying to remain cool. Our area is in the midst of a nasty heatwave, forcing just about everybody inside. I'm happy to oblige with the pleas from the professionals to stay inside and to stay hydrated. I'm too old to deal with that type of heat (without a pool). Even little Friend is miserable outside.

Hopefully the temperatures will fall soon. In the meantime, you can find me in a loose fitting sundress, under our ceiling fan with a large glass of ice tea.  Stay cool!
