About Me

I am a below knee amputee. More importantly, I am also Mommy to two boys, a very active 10 year old (Robby) and an mischievous toddler (Timmy). I have learned that being a parent with a disability can create some unusual and sometimes humorous situations. This blogger is available for hire! Let's talk and learn how a blog can expand your business.

Walking into Spring

It is the week before Spring Break and it is safe to say that it has already gotten away from me. I am not sure where the past two days went but I do know that I was busy from the moment I woke until I finally fell into bed at night. Although I want to finish the week strong, I really do hope that my schedule begins to ease in the coming days.

In addition to being especially busy at work, Friend has been particularly vocal about his desire to be outside chasing the squirrels. It feels like every time I find a moment to sit he is on my heels, yipping to go outside. Thank goodness for my audio books and my headphone sunglasses to help me pass the time. I enjoy walking and listening to the stories, but sometimes I just really want to sit on the couch with my leg off. Friend, much like my kids, don't seem to understand that concept.

With all of the miles I'm logging with Friend I have been putting a lot more strain on my prosthesis and my leg. After a difficult winter, all of the sores and bumps on my limb have finally healed. I'm vigilant about maintaining my skin integrity but I am grateful that I am walking without an issue. It continues to amaze me how a single little hair can derail my mobility for days.

I plan on doing my best to make sure my skin stays healthy going forward!
