About Me

My photo
I am a below knee amputee. More importantly, I am also Mommy to two boys, a very active 10 year old (Robby) and an mischievous toddler (Timmy). I have learned that being a parent with a disability can create some unusual and sometimes humorous situations. This blogger is available for hire! Let's talk and learn how a blog can expand your business.

Chef Rob

Robby, in an effort to develop more culinary skills, asked to make dinner last night. Whenever anybody offers to cook for me I will always say yes! Delighted that I didn't have to plan and execute a meal, I was happy to take the role as assistant and line cook for the evening. After carefully considering different recipes, Robby finally opted on a Chicken Parmesan.

When he told me that he had selected Chicken Parmesan I assumed that he would be using jarred sauce. Scott was on his way home when I realized that he was planning on making spaghetti sauce from scratch so I was able to catch him in time to run into the grocery store for us. Unpacking two grocery bags of supplies, I realized that Robby's cooking plan was not a night off kitchen duty for me. Instead of being the cook, I had to become the teacher.

We worked in the kitchen for an hour preparing the dinner. It was difficult for me but I held back and had him do everything. (I have been told I have some control issues in the kitchen.) By the time he was finished my countertops were covered with bowls, chopping boards and vegetable scraps, but the house smelled like an Italian bistro.

Teaching him to cook is certainly a messy proposition, but the results are delicious!
